Detailed Information

The Jack Daniel’s Distillery, established in 1866 by Jasper “Jack” Newton Daniel, holds the distinction of being the first registered distillery in the United States, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1956, the Brown-Forman Corporation of Louisville, Kentucky, acquired the Jack Daniel Distillery, which it still owns today. Many celebrities have been admirers of Jack Daniel’s whiskey over the years.

Every bottle of Jack Daniel’s is crafted with water sourced from Cave Spring Hollow, found on the distillery’s property. Notably, while meeting all the quality standards to be classified as bourbon, Jack Daniel’s uses a “charcoal mellowing” process, known as the Lincoln County Process.

Annually, approximately 300,000 visitors make their way to Lynchburg, TN for tours of the distillery, and within any two-month period, enthusiasts from all 50 states and over 30 foreign countries converge to witness the whiskey-making process firsthand and to immerse themselves in the culture fostered by Jack Daniel’s advertising campaigns. Although Moore County is technically dry, the distillery’s gift shop stands as the sole place in the country where one can purchase Jack Daniel’s products.
