Our Perspective on Whiskey...
The Whiskey Finish endeavors to create original content and serve as a resource for the whiskey community with in-depth articles on the history, art, science, and business of whiskey; current happenings in the whiskey world; distillery, bar, and whiskey reviews; and articles on the intersection of whiskey and culture in the form of food, books, film, and social media.
The site is curated by myself, Dane Hart, a Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS) and long-time whiskey enthusiast. I’ve lived and worked in several different countries and traveled extensively throughout the world, which has afforded me a broad perspective on people, life, and whiskey. I’m passionate about the individual environments, communities, and craftsmanship that come together to create whiskey. While I greatly admire the established distilleries, sometimes tracing their origins back to the 1800s, that have perfected their craft and produce storied whiskies that sell for handsome sums at auction; I equally love the the upstart rebels of the distilling world experimenting with land, grain, aging, flavors, finishing, and distilling techniques, pushing the boundaries of whiskey.
My hope is for The Whiskey Finish is to showcase the rich diversity and vast range of whiskey, bringing both global and local brands and voices to the conversation. Some of the whiskies and stories may be familiar, some not. First and foremost, The Whiskey Finish is about exploration and discovery, digging beneath the surface to get a better grasp of whiskey’s complexity and beauty. Whether new to whiskey, a connoisseur, or a collector, The Whiskey Finish is for everyone with a desire to delve deeper into the world of whiskey.
